  1. Today morning appears to be very fine.. cool after a hectic two days flying.I started from Bangalore to Delhi early morning (0600hrs).
Flight was very smooth and I could see most of them were having morning nap.I could make it on time since there was not much traffic at delhi.
I left for Kolkata 20 min late and flght was very interesting since all through out i could see majestic Himalayas.I was flying about 35000 feet above mean sea level.I saw picurous view of Mount everest when i was flying almost abeam Gorakhpur. It was fun n flying with beautiful visibility through out.I was getting a tail wind of 75 knots which is almost 150 kmph. This happens generally in winter months due to westerly jet stream.I landed at Kolkata at 1200 hrs .
drive to the hotel was as usual very slow expect in the new Rajaghat road.Whe we reach park street area traffic come to almost a halt. Thanks to the fly overs which came up otherwise Kolkata would have been a misery.
I had a good company in the evenning with spirit of vodka which gave me a good sleep.i forgot to put off the TV which gave me wake up call about 1 o clock.any way thats fine.
next day flight was at 1300 which invariably delayed 20 min due to Gauhati parking area availability.
I had to fly to Gauhati and back to Kolkata before I could fly to Mumbai.mumbai flight was long and nothing much to do.i saw Ajeesh writing his script and trilled about writting that sitting at 35000 feet.
After Mumbai I flew down to Bangalore and laned 2335 hrs therafter i felt really tired.even a small vodka could n`t refresh me.

  3. This evenning was very sad one with news of the sudden death Of Dr Manidas.
this news took me back to 1970 s during my school days where manidas was a noted figure. He studied almost 4 years senior to me but he was very popular in my school and the entire village due to his achievement.
He was a brillient student and the back ground in which he was brought up was litterally a labour class. His mother used to go for work daily.
He was very determined to achieve something in life.He left for higher studies to London and finally settled down there. He became one of the top most official in the department of Health in London and today I came to know that he is no more.May his soul rest in peace.

  4. Flying in the night is always more thrilling.I did yesterday Kolkata-Mumbai-Bangalore all throu night.
weather was exellent and no clouding till we reach Bangalore.
It is very interesting to the small towns from the top( 37000 feet ).looks like tiny stars cluttered together and small lights along the road sometime forms like necklace. The bridge connecting the sea in Mumbai is realy mind blowing.
The flght from Kolkata to Mumbai is about 2 and half hours which is very long.in aircraft like A320 it is nothing much other than wathing the instuments at times and cross checking way points.the routing is via jamshedpur ,Nagpur ,Aurangabad and then to decend.
The mumbai tarffic was very low at that time so that we could land before time for which I got a lots of appreciations.
It was raining when I landed at Bangalore and generally it rain during November/dec due to North east monsoon.
It was perfect landing with the right speed and I cleared on E taxy way and brought the aeroplane to a rest in Bay no 68.

  5. Its fun remembering all romantic songs and fly in the moonlit night.

I had good singer with me and he sang all malayalam songs of my choice throught my flight.I was flying from Mumbai to Lucknow and Patna and Kolkata before returned to Bangalore and landed at 1100 PM.
Sky was absolutely clear and even the ground was looking very attractive and well lit in the night time.
I am very fond of old romantic songs of jayachandran.his voice remembers me of prem Nazir in Panitheerathaveedu. The voice which brings you 70s in your blood vessels and it sceerps through the till our hair get erected.
I thing I am going too much on this anyway.
the flight was all fun with that and all my landings were well appreciated when the passengers left and I reached home about 1200 night

  8. IT is my turn to do an auto land at Delhi. In A320 aircraft is cleared up to Cat 3B which means we can go with out any decision height and 100 feet before landing we gat a chance to land or go around.it is very hard as far as decision making is concerned.
I did all my training in simulator and I was ready for doing my clearence with one Airbus Instructor for my final clearence.I rememeber his last words before i touch down was do take over if you find of the parameters at the end not showing correct indication.
Delhi visibility was good and I briefed him all mandatory items and I got my land green in my FMA and waited for him to call out flare indication the I saw the aircraft auto matically rounding off at 20 feet and telling me to retard my thrust lever and made a smooth touch down and slow down own its own.
It was another wonder full experience and that landing made me more confident on this machine...After all 180 people sitting behind and looking forward for a safe landing all the time

  10. Dear Captain,

No idea if you would be reading this comment or not but I am Anand and I had met you on the IDR-BLR flight on the 19th evening. You seemed very familiar to me and I was wrecking my brains or what ever little I had to find out the missing link. Well I could nt find any and so thought of Googling. Thats when I found this blog page. Amazing, simple and honest writing. Very much like the way you fly I guess...I really enjoyed the flight the other day and made me a big fan of not just Indigo but also you..:D Were you the PF that night. Whatever be, thanks for the safe landing and of course coming down to the second row to shake hands with me. As a Aerogeek I couldnt ask for more. Take care Captain and be in touch. Warm regards Anand.
